Nyambe's Collage Fund

Below is a note from Katie Fourqurean, who is taking the proceeds from our Christmas Party on December 5th straight to Nyambe for his 2011 Tuition!

Thanks to everyone who came out, we wanted to let you know the huge impact you're having on this young man's life!

Friends and Family,

With 3 days to departure for Zambia, Africa, we have raised all the money needed for the first year of Nyambe's school fees!

If you recall, 8 days ago, we still needed almost $500! All of the remaining money has come in, miraculously, thanks be to God! We have reached our goal of obtaining all money needed from January '10-January '11 for Nyambe's Social Work/Counseling College education!! We are so thankful for all of you're generosity in helping us to reach this goal! Nyambe will begin school January 10th and we are thrilled!!

As for my departure, I will exit Philadelphia on Sunday the 26th evening, so please pray the snow away in the Philadelphia area! I arrive to Lusaka, Zambia on Tuesday, the 28th, if all goes well and there are no snow induced delays!! Nyambe and I will visit the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. Peace Corps offices, the Joy Human Development nonprofit(our amazing Zambian friends who use sports to raise AIDS awareness and the arts provide livelihoods for vulnerable women and children), and other friends in Lusaka for 2 days before we begin our 10 hour travel to the village!!!

On the way to the village, we will also stop and visit Nyambe's brother in law, sister, and nephews and nieces near Ndola- a bit North of Lusaka, the capital! We are so excited and thrilled!! We will spend about 1.5 wks in the village before we head to his college for his first days at school!! We will definately send photos and keep you posted on the trip!!

Thank you all so much for you're generosity in helping Nyambe and I in reaching the goal to get Nyambe to college! We are blessed beyond measure!

We leave you with this powerful statement/poem that we so strongly believe in. Thank you.

Love, Katie and Nyambe

"We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction
of the magnificent enterprise that is God's work.
Nothing we do is complete, which is a way of saying
that the kingdom always lies beyond us.
No statement says all that could be said.
No prayer fully expresses our faith.
No confession brings perfection.
No pastoral visit brings wholeness.
No program accomplishes the church's mission.
No set of goals and objectives includes everything.

This is what we are about.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted,
knowing that they hold future promise.

We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces far beyond our capabilities.

We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation
in realizing that. This enables us to do something,
and to do it very well. It may be incomplete,
but it is a beginning, a step along the way,
an opportunity for the Lord's grace to enter and do the rest.

We may never see the end results, but that is the difference
between the master builder and the worker.
We are workers, not master builders; ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future not our own.
Amen."
